The Bible tells us “The Lamb came and took the Book”

210 He comes forth (what?) to take His claims now. Oh, my! Comes forth to take His claims! Now, He had done the Kinsman work.
He had come down, become Man, died. He done the Kinsman work of redemption, but had not as yet called for His claim.
Now He comes on the scene to claim His rights, (watch what takes place) oh, my, for which He was slain, for as becoming a Kinsman to man, to die in his place, to redeem him.
But, the elder was right when he said He was a “Lion,” see. The elder called Him, said, a “Lion.”
Because, He had been a Lamb, an Intercessor, a bloody Lamb, but now He is coming forth as a Lion. His days of intercession is over.
211 “Let him that’s filthy be filthy still. Let him that’s righteous be righteous still.
Let him that’s holy be holy still.” The thing is closed. Oh, brother! Then what? Then what?
212 And, remember, it comes at the seventh church age, when the mysteries of God will be opened up. Now watch real close. This is something you must get.
Now, He had been doing His mediatorial work, making intercessions for the believer. For two thousand years He had been back there, a Lamb.
Now He is stepping forth from Eternity, to take the title-deeded Book, and to break the Seals, and reveal the mysteries. When of it? At the end time.
213 Do you get it? [Congregation says, “Amen.”—Ed.] All right, we’ll go on then.
63-0317E - The Breach Between The Seven Church Ages And The Seven Seals

This became a question to the people who heard it, because it seemed as if that night, the Lamb had left the Mercy Seat.

The Lamb cannot literally leave the Mercy Seat, because He is the Mercy Seat.

A mercy-seat - כפרת capporeth, from כפר caphar, to cover or overspread; because by an act of pardon sins are represented as being covered, so that they no longer appear in the eye of Divine justice to displease, irritate, and call for punishment; and the person of the offender is covered or protected from the stroke of the broken law. In the Greek version of the Septuagint the word ιλαστηριον, hilasterion, is used, which signifies a propitiatory, and is the name used by the apostle, Heb_9:5.
1 John 2:2 KJV 1900
And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
Both use the Greek “Hilasterion”.
Romans 3:25 KJV 1900
Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

Mercy Seat (Atonement Cover)

The Hebrew noun for the lid of the ark, kapporeth—literally translated “covering”—is from the verb kaphar, meaning “to atone” or “to cover.” Similarly yom kippur is the Day of Atonement—the one day of the year when the high priest enters the Holy of Holies (Most Holy Place) where the ark is located and sprinkles it with blood for the sins of the people. The translation “mercy seat” is based on how the Septuagint and the Vulgate (the Greek and Latin versions of the Old Testament, respectively) handled the Hebrew word kapporeth. Instead of the literal translation “covering,” these ancient translations interpreted the noun term to mean “mercy” and the slab as “seat.” This interpretation is based on Num 7:89 (compare Exod 25:22), which describes Yahweh’s voice emanating above the kapporeth, and the phrase that Yahweh is “enthroned above the cherubim” (1 Sam 4:4; 2 Sam 6:2; 1 Chr 13:6; 2 Kgs 19:15; Isa 37:16; Pss 80:2; 99:1). The kapporeth was the place where God met Moses in the tabernacle (Num 7:89). The kapporeth was, in effect, the throne of Yahweh on earth.

He literally covered the law in Mercy. The law must be covered in mercy, or even the High Priest would die.

The ark was overlaid with gold, but the Mercy Seat was pure gold (deity)

117 Now watch the ark of the covenant. He said, “You shall make it out of acacia wood, and overlay it with gold.”
Anyone who knows the Scripture, know that gold speaks of Deity, and wood speaks of humanity.
See, He said, “You shall cover it, overlay it with gold, over the wood,” that’s Deity over the wood; Christ over the Church, inside and out. Deity, overlaid!
118 You’ll have a lid on top of it. It’ll be a mercy seat, and all the laws will rest in it. But before you take it in, sprinkle it over with blood.
The law speaks of judgment, but between the law and the congregation was a curtain, for Deity stood in this place.
119 Type of Christ! Between the wrath of God, the judgment in hell, between that and the believer stands Deity Himself, Christ,
standing in the way, with an atonement made, to save us from our sins, and to heal us from our sickness. Deity stands in the way, between judgment. 55-0522 - The Ark

Leviticus 16 gives us instructions for the priest to follow on the day of atonement.

Leviticus 16:12 KJV 1900
And he shall take a censer full of burning coals of fire from off the altar before the Lord, and his hands full of sweet incense beaten small, and bring it within the vail:
Leviticus 16:13 KJV 1900
And he shall put the incense upon the fire before the Lord, that the cloud of the incense may cover the mercy seat that is upon the testimony, that he die not:
Leviticus 16:14 KJV 1900
And he shall take of the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it with his finger upon the mercy seat eastward; and before the mercy seat shall he sprinkle of the blood with his finger seven times.
Leviticus 16:15 KJV 1900
Then shall he kill the goat of the sin offering, that is for the people, and bring his blood within the vail, and do with that blood as he did with the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it upon the mercy seat, and before the mercy seat:

This was the only place that the Shekinah dwelt., It was His house.

Jesus Christ is God’s place of meeting, His chosen place of Worship, and the place He speaks from.

(Pleased to dwell in)

How could He leave the Mercy Seat? He is simply changing His office from Lamb to Lion. From Mercy Seat to Judgment Seat.

92 Now is the day of mercy! Now, let’s go back in the Old Testament here just a little bit and find out what mercy is. Go on back and see what happened to this Throne.
This Throne, of course, is the judgment seat. And be…the reason today that there is mercy, is because the mercy seat is sprinkled with an atonement. Blood!
And as long as Blood is on the judgment seat then it is not judgment no more, it’s mercy, because Something died to stay judgment. If you see it, say “Amen.”
As long as Blood is on the mercy seat, showed that Something died to hold judgment back.
But when the Church is raptured, the mercy seat becomes a judgment seat!     61-0108 - Revelation, Chapter Four #3

Where is the Mercy Seat now?

303 Now, “the mercy seat.” Now, the mercy seat’s in the heart, seat where the shining forth of His Glory in all of His children, the Shekinah Glory in the human heart.
Here is the human heart. Is that right? Is that the mercy seat?
How do you come through it into That through these different systems?
Through self-will, self-will. Comes into here, and through there, comes out what? Shekinah Glory.
What is the Shekinah Glory? Is God’s Presence. And when a man’s walking, or a woman, he’s reflecting the Shekinah Glory.
He don’t go into gambling dens and carry on, and go out here and deny the Word. No matter what the people says, he’s got his heart set on one thing: God.
And if he’s truly called of God then Jesus Christ reflects Himself through him with the Shekinah Glory, doing the same things He did back there;
manifest the same Gospel, preaching the same Word, same Word being made manifest in the same measure it was then,
just like it was truly at Pentecost it’s measured back again. Oh, my!     61-0108 - Revelation, Chapter Four #3

For Him to leave the Mercy Seat while you are here on the earth He’d have to leave your heart.

323 Now we’re living in another age. Glory! Oh, I love this age! Don’t you? Now, God has a mercy seat today to be guarded.
You believe that? Where’s the mercy seat found? In the heart of man.
Where did it come in the heart of man? At the day of Pentecost when the Holy Ghost (which is God) come into the human heart. Is that right?
Now, let’s mark this down here, and get ready to draw it if you want to. Pentecost, P-e-n-t, I’ll put Pentecost.
This is the mercy seat, the Holy Ghost. Put in here…I’ll tell you what, make it more appropriate, let’s put in here the “Dove” which means…the bird, see.
All right, guarding the mercy seat, now has God got guards for the mercy seat today? Now that…Now, watch how beautiful it’s drawed out.
324 I was sitting the other day and saw this, and I just jumped up and run around and around and around the chair, saying, “Glory! Glory! Glory! Glory! Glory,” around, around. 61-0108 - Revelation, Chapter Four #3

Matthew 28:19 guards Acts 2:38

The four gospels guard the pentecostal blessing. Not just anyone can see it.

Bro. Branham goes on to preach a stirring sermon called “Souls That are in Prison Now”. Basically the premise is, “what if mercy is over already?” “What if the Third Pull is preaching to the eternal lost”

He didn’t want the people to be taken off their guard. (Story of man walking when the tides come in)

Hoping and trusting that this is not so; but it will be, one of these days, and it might be today.
Is there grace left, Lord? Let me be wrong on this, Lord. Let it be wrong at this time. That I, it isn’t, that people still can be saved.
Maybe we have another day; maybe today is that day. ....Maybe tonight is the last night. Maybe this is the last year.
I don’t know, friends. I’m telling you, I don’t know. It’ll never be told me.     63-1110M - Souls That Are In Prison Now
“Brother Branham, some say mercy is over and no one can be saved. Now, is this true?” (I’m glad I got this one.)
“We watch the prayer lines, and it seems some are still finding mercy.”
“Is mercy over?” Don’t never think that! See? Just keep right on doing everything you can until you’re taken away.
“We notice in the prayer line somes finds mercy.” Sure! Mercies, the doors are open....
If I knowed Jesus was coming this afternoon, I’d be doing just the thing I’m doing right now (see?), just continuing right on. Mercy is always open. See?
And now, where I think you get it, is about the finishing of the Seven Church Ages and the Seven Seals being loosed.
See? The Seven Seals, it’s manifested what takes place has…what has took place.

(God interpreted it by doing it just the way He did it.)

The Seventh Church Age, we’re at the end of the Seventh Church Age. When I say the end, that doesn’t mean it’s this very hour, this very minute.
You remember, the Bible said, back in the times of the Lord Jesus, Paul said, “For the time is at hand.”
Do you realize how long that was in God’s time? That was yesterday. My time, it’s been two thousand years.
See? The time is at hand. See? What God calls at hand is not what we call at hand. See?

(Only about an hour and a half since the seals were opened.)

So just keep on believing, keep on praying, keep on…God’s still got mercy open; just keep flowing into it as fast as you can.
God will do the stopping when it’s time to stop. See? 64-0830M - Questions And Answers #3

(Next question is about preachers. You can’t stop what God starts)

What actually happened when the Seals were opened?

117 Now, and one time, if a man walked through that veil, it was sudden death. Now it’s death not to go through It! Amen.
If you can’t break that veil of tradition, break through that wall of denomination, to see God in His power, it’s death.
Once where it was death to go in, now it’s death to stay out.
The whole Mercy Seat is setting in plain view, anybody can see It, the veil is rent. Glory to God! The whole Mercy Seat comes into plain view.
118 How God could have mercy on foul sinners as us, when He hid Himself, was a mystery. And now It’s in plain view, or in full view, revealed by His Word.
It’s always the Word, constantly, that is God. It’s the Word that opens it up.
If those people would have knowed the Word of God that day when Jesus died, they would have seen the Mercy Seat, they would have seen Who He was.
119 “Who was That then? Why did the veil rent?” Remember, it was death to go into It. Nobody could see It.
Moses saw It in a form, It was a whirl…it was a—a Man’s back. Well, here It is, a bleeding back, that same Man! What was It?
God wanted to show them the Mercy Seat. God wanted to show them Who He was. So the veil in the temple, from the hand of God, above, was rent from top to the bottom, and showed God in plain view.
It was Jesus Christ hanging on the cross, the Mercy Seat. And what was it? The people were too blind to see It.
120 Now it’s repeated again, their traditions! How, then, on the Day of Pentecost, the Word came and was in a form of “Son of God.” And they began to organize it at Nicaea, Rome.
And, the first thing, they went to Methodist, Baptist, Presbyterian, Pentecostals, and so forth. It’s organized tradition till a man don’t know where he stands.
But, glory to God, He promised in the last days what He would do. He would show His Word in plain view, open before us again, see, open It up. 64-0614M - The Unveiling Of God

This is His present Office.

The LAMB, the High Priest holding His blood as an atonement on the mercy seat for our sins is the Lord God Almighty.
That is His present office. That is what He is doing now, pleading His blood for our sins.
But one day that Lamb will become the Lion of the Tribe of Judah.
He will come forth in power and glory and take His authority to reign as King. He is the coming King of this earth.    CAB 01 - Revelation

Conclusion.

When the man said “Lord, Help Thou my Unbelief” He found the Mercy Seat. After Pentecost Peter said “such as I have I give”.

When the Mercy Seat comes in plain view once again, it produces another Book of Acts.
